Welcome to the St. Benedict’s Prep Drama Guild blog, our organization’s first foray into the world of online communication. Through the blog we hope to share with you what most audiences never get to see or experience – the rehearsal process. Through our writing, we hope to give you some insight into what it is we do here every afternoon from 3:10 – 6pm.

Playing the Role OF Oedipus Rex
Playing Oedipus has allowed me to expand my acting skills because Oedipus is a young king who has several emotions and feelings that change rapidly . Oedipus may have solved the riddle of the sphinx for the citizens of Thebes, but he has not found out how to solve this horrible plague that is affecting everyone in the city. With the help of Teiresias and other characters, Oedipus is told that the only way he can stop this plague is to find the murderer of Laius, who was former king of Thebes, and turns out to be Oedipus' biological father. Oedipus is a wonderful character that I'm happy to be playing because I get to be a man who tries to be confident, clever, bold, determined, and a killer without knowing it - all the things actors rarely get to do all in one shot.
